(NewsNation) — More than 7.4 million people, including seniors, adults and children, received Social Security and Supplemental Security Income benefits in July, according to the latest data from the agency.
Anyone who receives SSI benefits will receive one payment in September, with another early check at the end of August, in addition to their regular Social Security benefit check.
September Social Security payment schedule
If you want to monitor your payments in September, you can find the agency’s retirement benefit schedule online for 2025 and 2026. The SSA staggers its retirement payments by your birth date, which has the following breakdown:
- Wednesday, Sept. 10: Birth dates between the 1st and the 10th
- Wednesday, Sept. 17: Birth dates between the 11th and 20th
- Wednesday, Sept. 24: Birth dates between the 21st and 31st
If you receive SSI, you will receive one payment this month on Sept. 24. Because Sept. 1 is Labor Day, the other SSI payment for the month was issued early on Aug. 29.
The full SSI payment schedule for the rest of 2025 is as follows:
- Wednesday, Sept. 24
- Wednesday, Oct. 1
- Wednesday, Oct. 22
- Friday, Oct. 31
- Wednesday, Nov. 26
- Monday, Dec. 1
- Wednesday, Dec. 24
- Wednesday, Dec. 31
If you don’t receive a payment, the SSA recommends contacting your bank or financial institution to see if there is a delay. The agency also suggests waiting three mailing days before contacting the SSA at 1-800-772-1213.
