Taco Bell hits rewind with ‘Decades Y2K Menu’ featuring 5 revived items

(NewsNation) — Taco Bell is bringing back some of its fan-favorite menu items from the 2000s, the popular fast-food chain announced Thursday.

The Decades Y2K Menu is set to launch nationwide Sept. 9 and will revive highly coveted items such as the Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos, Caramel Apple Empanada, 7-Layer Burrito, Double Decker Taco and Chili Cheese Burrito, all for under $3.

Taco Bell rewards members will have special early access to the Caramel Apple Empanada from September 2 through 8 before it reaches menus around the country.

To celebrate the 20th birthday of the Crunchwrap Supreme, Taco Bell is also releasing the $9 Discovery Luxe Box, which includes a Crunchwrap, Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos, a Crunchy Taco, nachos and a medium fountain drink.

“No one did the 2000s like Taco Bell. That era gave us some of our most iconic menu items, including the Crunchwrap Supreme, which remains one of our best-sellers two decades later,” said Taylor Montgomery, chief marketing officer.

Coinciding with the rollout of the revived menu items, Taco Bell will also introduce three limited-edition Y2K-themed merch drops, including a collaboration with legendary tattoo artist Ed Hardy. Additionally, Taco Bell is introducing the world to the Crunchkin, an interactive digital pet that can be cared for to unlock rewards on the app.

The nostalgic taco-loving fun doesn’t stop there, as select Taco Bell rewards members were invited to attend Taco Bell’s Decades Y2K Party Thursday evening. The special one-night-only event will feature a performance from 2000s icon and Grammy-winning artist Lil Jon.

In other Taco Bell news, the chain is reevaluating plans for its AI drive-thru experience.
