(NewsNation) — Thanksgiving is weeks away, which means food — a lot of it — will be making its way off the shelves.
Thanksgiving meals seem to vary in price each year and can be a conscious choice for a family or families. However, with concerns about inflation, chains like Aldi, Walmart and Target are offering bargain deals for Thanksgiving meals.
Aldi is offering its lowest price in years for a discount Thanksgiving meal package. The items, including turkey and ingredients for nine traditional side dishes, are less than $4 a person, or roughly $40 to serve 10 people.
“Price leadership is part of our DNA, and the holidays are when our commitment to value really shines,” said Scott Patton, CCO of Aldi U.S. “We believe families shouldn’t have to make trade-offs to feed everyone, especially at Thanksgiving.”
Target announced it is offering its holiday meal for under $20 for four people, estimated to be less than $5 a person.
“Our under-$20 Thanksgiving meal is priced even lower than last year’s, but we’re not stopping there,” said Lisa Roath, Target’s executive vice president and chief merchandising officer of food, essentials and beauty. “We also have new seasonal sides, stylish table décor, festive apparel and beautiful greenery and florals.”
Are the meals cheaper as compared to last year?
Examining if the Thanksgiving meal prices are cheaper this year than in 2024, there are some slight differences.
For the holiday(s) last year, Walmart offered a 29-item meal that served eight people for less than $7 a person. Aldi and Walmart’s previous bundle added up to $47, which is $7 more than this year’s offer.
As for Amazon, they are offering a full meal and all the fixings for $25, almost equal to the same deal from a year ago.
